Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
